Bonjour, Hola, and welcome to my online teacher portfolio! I created this portfolio to showcase my work and achievements as a pre-service, and now in-service, foreign language teacher.  I am a 7th grade French teacher at Maple Avenue Middle School in the Saratoga Springs City School District, and I am NYS certified to teach French and Spanish to grades 7-12.  I have wanted to be a foreign language teacher since 9th grade, when I decided the best way to channel my passion for French and Spanish would be to share it with students! I got to test the waters as a teacher when I was in high school through an after school enrichment program with elementary school students where I assisted French and Spanish teachers in their lessons. I am so grateful to all my language teachers and professors who have made my learning experience so enriched! Having this experience made it so easy for me to choose a career path!

I am a 2009 graduate of the State University of New York College at Oswego, where I majored in Adolescent Education for French and Spanish, and a 2011 graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh where I received my M.S.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction. During my penultimate semester at Oswego, I created a logo and website for the college’s French program, as well as a Ning community and Twitter handle, under the guidance of one of my professors (click any of those things to visit them!). I also run my own blogs on French and Spanish (click either language to visit the respective blog).

My international travels thus far have brought me to France (four times), Canada (four times, once as a chaperone of a high school trip) and the UK (once). I have also had the benefit of, in a sense, having the travel come to me, as a resident of a Global Living and Learning Community for 4 and a half years in college at SUNY Oswego. This GLLC, for short, is a dormitory which houses about three quarters American students, and one quarter international students, either studying abroad at the university for a semester or pursuing their whole degree there. I have made some very close friends from all over the world, and learned about some cultures I had never heard of before. I also got to practice my Spanish and French on a semi-daily basis.
